While mostly influenced by the Texas Blues sound, West Coast Blues embodied a divergence of styles. The people coming to California from Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas, to work in the fields and factories during and after World War Two, brought with them the blues sounds of the homes they left for a better life in the Golden West. The California Blues scene was nutured by a vibrant club scene and the many independent record labels, both black and white owned, which arose after the Second World War.
